My name is Josef Pfeiffer and I am currently a member of Martin Held’s Computational Geometry and Applications Lab in the Computer Science department at the University of Salzburg.
About Me
I am currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Salzburg, where I am working on my dissertation with the working title “Voronoi Diagrams: Theory and Applications in Computational and Industrial Contexts.” Before that, I obtained a master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Applied Image and Signal Processing in 2024 after successfully completing the joint degree program offered by the University of Salzburg and the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. Earlier I received a bachelor’s degree (B.Eng.) in mechatronics from Technische Hochschule Rosenheim in 2019.
From 2015 to 2025, I was employed at BSH Hausgeräte GmbH where I began my professional career as a dual student. After obtaining my bachelor’s degree, I had the opportunity to work in various engineering and development departments and gain experience across different areas of the company. I started in the appliance-specific oven development, where I worked on predicting cooking processes based on various sensor data. Furthermore, I had the chance to work in an overarching, appliance-independent department focused on system engineering and software architecture. Later, I transitioned from electronic/software development to the IT department and became involved in the field of ALM (application lifecycle management). My work focused on modeling and implementing a software solution for a complex variant configuration and management process within an existing company-wide framework. In this role, I was able to contribute not only as a software engineer but also as a sub-project owner and was able to shape the product’s initial design to implementation.
